The South Nation River basin is located in eastern Ontario, Canada, and covers an area of approximately 3, km 2 (Fig. 1).A variety of land uses prevail in this river basin that are relevant to this study, including dairy and beef cattle farming, cash and livestock crop production, livestock pasturing, and fall and spring manure applications as well as nonagricultural.
